As prices in gas are trendily increasing, so too are gas thefts making a fuel monitoring system more necessary than ever. Many gas retailers have installed a prepay system in order to combat an issue that has gotten out of control. Unfortunately, this has not stopped the problem.

Typically, these thefts would occur at night where thieves would break into the tank and siphon the gas out, or drain the gas by puncturing the tank or cutting the fuel line. With the emergence of gas theft rings, specially designed vehicles are capable of siphoning fuel from  underground storage tanks.

Interestingly, gas theft occurrences are more prevalent after prices increase as opposed to high prices of gas. Unfortunately for law abiding consumers, the increase in price of fuel is in part, due to gas theft. Retailers are most affected by the generation of gas thefts making only pennies per gallon of gasoline sold. Profit margins have dropped significantly for retailers.

Many of these thefts go undetected due to the lack of integrated security surveillance solutions. Telecom stations are among the most vulnerable to thefts as many are in remote locations.

We offer a fully integrated solution to provide both security measures and fuel monitoring. Customers have equipped fuel tanks with Ultrasonic sensors to monitor the level of fuel within the tank. Should any theft attempts occur, the system will report and track the amount of fuel removed. With thresholds allocated, the sensor can send a notification to an administrator to report the theft. Police can be dispatched handle the theft after the sensor reports the depletion of fuel. To enhance the security detail, security cameras with custom video recording parameters can monitor for malicious activity. Stations that are fenced can  implement Ravica’s Door Control Unit (DCU)  to provide the necessary software to accurately analyze the company’s fuel use.
