Insure your Home With Water Leak Monitoring During Hurricane Season

Hurricane season is among us in the States which means a water leak sensor should be in place to detect and respond to any potential threat in the home or office. Hurricanes often leave coastlines in a watery ruin, but if you’re lucky, they will put homes in danger of floods and water damage from leaky roofs or cracks in the foundation.

There are a few ways to prepare for hurricanes that could mean the difference between life and death or property damage caused by water insurgence. Preparation before the hurricane is always key.

Water Leaks and Floods
We recently had a client here in Maine who installed a water leak monitoring system in his vacation home in Florida. We designed a lay out for two BitSight 2 units with two water spot sensors. One unit with two water sensors were placed in the attic, and another unit with two water sensors in the basement.

In the occurrence that a water sensor detects water, he and one of his neighbors will be notified via text (I hope his neighbor is nice enough to take care of his house in case there is a flood).

Further preparation includes boarding up the windows, securing things on in the yard, keeping a medical supply kit on hand, battery backed flashlights and radio, and stocking up on nonperishable food.

For homes located in a hurricane zone, it is important to prepare for your home with a water leak monitoring system when you’re away. Protect your home with en environmental monitoring system with Ravica.
