Some clients who come to us for either an environmental monitoring or security monitoring system sometimes may purchase a solution without searching for a better fitting solution for their required job. In this blog, I will walk you along the specific abilities of our base units and how they can be better utilized.
Last week, one of our customers ordered 10 temperature sensors with 1ft. cable and a BitSight 8 base unit for his operation. We notified him that with the 1 ft. cable, he would have 8 temperature sensors off the base unit which means he would be monitoring temperature in a 1 foot radius in the same room. Not to mention the BitSight 8 supports 8 sensing ports, thus he would have two spare temperature sensors.
Each base unit for environmental and security monitoring that we offer including the BitSight models and the SecurityProbe 5E model fulfills environmental sensor capabilities including: temperature sensors, humidity sensors, smoke detectors, security sensors, power monitors, digital voltmeters, airflow sensors, water leak detectors, motion detectors, dry contact sensors, siren and strobe lights, sensor controlled relays, AC voltage detectors.
All of our environmental and security monitoring base unit models are a completely embedded host with a proprietary Linux-like operating system including TCP/IP stack, Web server, email and full SNMP functionality. SMS notifications can be sent via a 3rd party email-to-SMS gateway.

The BitSight 2 would be a perfect solution where only two sensors are required. For example, a greenhouse may only require temperature and humidity monitoring, however, by ordering dual temperature and humidity sensors, the sensor increases to 4 environmental sensing dimensions.
BitSight 8 has an expandability feature that allows it to connect to dry contact sensors which can increase the sensor parameters dramatically to 28 and 68 ports! This would be better suited for industrial purposes or large facilities with an uninterrupted power supply, security equipment, HVAC systems, generators, etc.
SecurityProbe 5E

Clik here to view. The securityProbe supports the general environmental sensors including: power monitor sensors and the thermocouple sensor, along with two security monitors: pan tilt dome camera and universal mount camera.
The securityProbe can display pictures from four cameras simultaneously in several sizes, up to 640×480 pixels resolution. The video surveillance can be streamed through the probe’s web-interface for observation at any time, anywhere. Since it is compatible with any Ravica environmental sensors, this unit is perfect for data centers or facilities that have delicate requirements.
RRD Tool, the well-known data graphing and logging tool, adds the flexibility of easy professional graphing. Events can be logged historically to a systems log with event detail which includes the time and the sensor which caused the event along with the sensor readings. The database can be reviewed easily with our built-in web based analysis system.
For a more sophisticated environmental and security monitoring system in a data center for example, the SecurityProbe 5E is insisted.
